After a seating glitch had more than one player assigned to the same seat, the 2011 edition of the World Series of Poker began it's 51 day summer run at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in las Vegas at half past noon today. With those immortal words, "Shuffle Up and Deal!," WSOP tournament director, Jack Effel, put the cards in the air for the most famous poker games of all times.

Stratosphere Poker Room
Early this morning, Tuesday April 20, a lone gunman attempted to rob the Stratosphere Casino Hotel poker room. The suspect, described by the Metro Police Department as being 5'10" 160 lbs, in his early twenties, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and waving a handgun, failed to find any cash or chips after he jumped over the counter into the poker room's cashier cage.

Professional poker players Dan Harrington and Eric Seidel were inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame on Monday evening before the start of the WSOP Main Event heads-up play. Frank Kassela was presented with $30K of 2011-2013 WSOP buy-ins for his 2010 Player of the Year award. On hand for the ceremony were many of poker's superstars and VIPs including Phil Hellmuth, Doyle Brunson and Jack Binion.

Michael Mizrachi contemplates his next move at the feature table
Tonight's episode of the 2010 WSOP Main Event will begin with just 48 players remaining from the 7319 hopefuls taking a $10,000 seat on Day 1 last August. At the end of tonight's segment there will be 27 of those hopefuls still in the hunt for the almost $9,000,000 reserved for the winner from the $68,798,600 prize pool.
