The next time you're playing poker in Las Vegas, check to make sure your opponent wasn't on "America's Most Wanted."

That's what happened with 31-year-old Jason L. Brown, who was playing poker at ARIA early Thursday morning.  Only, he was the fugitive.

On a February 26, 2011 episode of the show, he was shown as being a compulsive gambler in Atlantic City and was wanted for sexually assaulting two teenage runaways and forcing them into prostitution.

South Point Las Vegas

Okay, so no more online poker.  Where are the most +EV places to play?  Yes, we're talking to YOU, Las Vegas locals.

Your best bet of course is anywhere on the Strip on a holiday weekend (hello Earth Day that we forgot about, hello Easter, hello National Prime Rib Day, hello Memorial Day).

But man, the Strip is so crowded and what an effort to get there.

How about cheaper rake (yay!), a shorter commute (double yay!), and a decent game where you can run over the tight crusty locals?

The ARIA poker room has some of the best comps in town, with $2 per hour and $3 per hour from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m.

But in addition to that, play 5 hours a day and you’ll be able to stay in the fancy rooms for only $99 from Sunday-Thursday and $139 for Friday-Saturday (plus taxes and resort fees).

Even better, it isn’t just cash games.  Just play in a $125 or greater tournament each day and show your receipt, and you’ll also get the discount -- even if you don't last 5 hours.

Gold Coast poker room closes

Sadly, when we stopped by Gold Coast’s poker room over the weekend, we found the above sign.

We enjoyed the rollicking poker room at Gold Coast, full of action-oriented locals in limit games this side of the California card barns.

That was when the poker room was near the back of the casino near the steakhouse.

Then it renovated and was moved toward the front, to the south of TGI Fridays.

The Venetian Las Vegas, Deep Stack Extravaganza, poker tournament

Competing with the tail end of the Caesars Winter Poker Classic, the Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza is running now through Feb. 24.

Four times a year, this tournament is one of the best in Las Vegas.  We think it's second to the World Series of Poker, in terms of the players it draws, the types of tournaments, the structure, and just how well run the whole thing is.

Events range from $220 super satellites to $340-$550 buy-ins to no-limit hold'em, to the $5,000 main event beginning Feb. 20.
