Benny Binion purchased the Eldorado Club and the Apache Hotel in 1951, remodeled both joints into one casino that he opened as the Horseshoe and went on to make the property the most profitable per square foot in the state.  Binion was the first to offer free drinks to all gamblers, add carpet to the casino floor, provide air conditioning and an elavator to the second floor guest rooms.

The stage is set and the final nine players from a WSOP Main Event starting field of 6,865 players are now on break until the final able reconvenes November 5-7 to determine the 2011 WSOP Championship winner.  The November Nine was determined in the early morning hours on Wednesday, July 20th, when John Hewitt pushed all-in and was eliminated in 10th place, $607,882.

All that stands between Phil Hellmuth and his 12th WSOP gold bracelet is fellow poker pro John Juanda.  The two players outlasted a field of 126 in event #16, $10,000 2-7 Draw Lowball Championship.
